Last year Kanye West shocked the world as he made a surprise appearance at Drake‘s OVO Fest in Toronto. Ever since then, the pair have maintained a great relationship and have taken turns appearing on each others tours. Kanye is on the new cover of GQ where he talks about Drake, being a husband and father, how Kim has changed him and more.
Over the past year, Kanye has mentioned Drake in various interviews praising both him and his music. As he preps for his new album and readies the first single, he admits he no longer holds the #1 spot in rap. Kanye says that he gave up the spot last summer to Drake and is contemplating whether he wants to “take it back”. Read the excerpt from the interview below.
He’s also got a new record—maybe even a full-on pop record, though he hasn’t decided yet. He knows he is no longer the most popular man in rap. “Currently that spot is taken,” West says. “Let’s be honest—he got last summer.”
“You know. There’s only one person.”
“Yeah. He got last summer. And I’d never given it up till last summer.” Now he’s thinking about taking it back.“It’s a real question for me. Do I want to?”
