Each year The Source magazine does their annual Power 30 list/cover. For the past couple of years, Drake has managed to make the cut and this year is no different.
The purpose is to let you know who is hot in the industry and making moves. This not only includes artists, but those in radio, blogging, and the music industry in general. Drake made this years list at number 25. His position last year was #13. This issue will be available to purchase on newstands soon. Read the reasoning behind Drake’s position on the list below.
When Drake releases a track the entire Internet explodes. That’s exactly what happened when he released “Started From the Bottom” and “5 AM in Toronto” off his upcoming and highly anticipated third studio album, Nothing Was the Same. In addition to the album’s release, Drake will also kick off a 41-date North American tour in September with fellow monster artists Future and Miguel. All year Drake continued to drop hot verses, collaborating with artists like Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, and Kendrick Lamar, while delivering unique songs like “Girls Love Beyoncé” using a Destiny’s Child sample. The critically acclaimed rapper also received Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammy Awards for his album Take Care, raising the bar yet again for his next release. —Shaina Auxilly
