Drake Named #5 Hottest MC

Drake Named #5 ‘Hottest MC In The Game’

And it’s that time of year. MTV has started to countdown the top ten ‘Hottest MC’s In The Game’. We were all waiting to see what number Drake would come in at and the verdict is in.

Drake has come in at the #5 spot right above Big Sean. Let’s remember that in 2012 Drake released no album, nor did he release a mixtape. In fact, he didn’t even release a solo song. With the help of his Club Paradise tour and the strength of the many features he was on, he was able to maintain a great buzz. “Anything he touches is a guaranteed smash”, said Rob Markman of Drake. The panel also made a very valid point about Drake and his music videos. Though Drake may include cars and women in his videos, he is able to do it in his own way. A way that makes you want to be a part of what’s going on. Watch below as the panel discusses Drake and the reasoning behind his #5 position on the list. What do YOU think of this number? Sound off below in the comment section.

  • I would be a lot happier if he was number one, but considering he didn’t drop any new albums last year and he STILL got number 5 is AMAZING! I love you, Drake! Congratulations! <3

  • CJ

Without an album I can take this… For now

  • he deserves to be number 1. his features alone should get him there. plus he just released SFTB. if Drake’s 5. i wonder who’s above him. cause no ones better than him right now.

    • I’d have to agree. No solo song for a year and ‘Take Care’ still got heavy play on radio, clubs, everywhere

  • taking in consideration the fact that he hasn’t last anything the past year I can accept the #5 position….BUT we are going hard this year! We going for #1!!! foh sure

  • He deserves to be higher, and I think there’s actually a chance they’ll move him up on the list. I think they started Big Sean at #8, and he ended up at 6. The rest of the top 5 will be revealed on Thursday.

    • I think he should be moved up. Guess we’ll have to wait and see

  • SteffyLuvsDrizzy

I disagree, If they didn’t want to give him number 1 because he didn’t drop a mixtape or an album fine but all those features he was on weren’t for nothing, he had everyone singing and rapping his hooks so maybe not number 1 but at least top 3… 5 isn’t sitting well with me but I guess that’s better then nothing and at least he’s being recognized for his greatness

  • ReneeSFO

The fact that he didn’t release an album, mixtape or single and still maintained a huge buzz not only by fans but by others in the industry is saying something itself. The features he did in 2012 were CRAZY! Diced Pineapples, Champion, Right Here, Enough Said, Fuckin’ Problems, Us, No Lie, Pop That, Poetic Justice, Stay Schemin!!!!! The list goes on and aint’ nobody doing it like Drizzy. Hottest rapper in the game period.
I’m gonna be pissed finding out the next four lol! I do feel like he is constantly achieving these amazing things and I just think he deserves the credit. Love.

They should’ve had Boi1da back on.. He would’ve told the truth… In any season drizzy is #1. High five tho

    • Haha, yeah…last year he stuck up for him..well basically he just stated facts

  • wooo! Go drake!

  • It makes sense that he’s 5 because he didn’t have an album, but come on, he was the hottest mc. Nobody really stood out like him, nobody made as many hits. Kendrick Lamar will probly get one but drake shouldve gotten 2

  • I believe that #5 is a serious understatement. Nobody in the game is on Drake’s level right now. His talent is outstanding and I have not once in the many years that Drizzy has been in the game seen one person who is as captivating as an artist He makes every song that he features on an instant hit, his lyrics are so unique that they are on every social networking site and in everybody’s mouth, not to mention that Take Care was the greatest album released in 2011 and got the grammy for album of the year for 2012 in 2013! Drake deserves the number one spot because nobody is messing w him lyrically, musically, and for someone who loves his craft as much as he does he deserves it! There is nothing I love more than someone who loves their craft, and Drake will always remain my #1 in that category for myself. As for this #5 hottest MC spot it’s only one step closer to being #1 which of course will take no time at all because its far from over ;)

Best Rap Album Off The Year

    Best Hip Hop Video “HYFR”

Most Number 1 Hits of 2012, which he passed Mr. Carter

    ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!

How can I agree with the knights of the round table on HottestMC??

Yeah Drake didn’t drop anything but he sill stood out among the rest. He’s made it known that you don’t have to put out so many records to gain recognition. Drake’s been doing that. Only people I know that gets more than half a mil for a show is Hova and Em.. That says a lot there and I’m not talking pop or Justin Bieber status now.. Drake even said “We want the credit where it’s due”.. Yeah they gave him some credit but everytime Aubrey puts out a single it impacts the world.

I keep hearing people say his flow has changed, he’s becoming soft. Honestly, if you stay the same throughout your career your going to get old and fade off, Look what happened to Soulja Boy. Here’s what I gotta say best about Drake.

With every song and every lyric that comes with every album. Drake paints the most perfect picture of where his life is at, at that very moment. Music is an evolution, he is constantly looking for what works best for him. He doesn’t beat around the bush. His flow does change but who are you tell him that he needs to change it. Are you really trying to tell Drake that he needs to change his everyday lifestyle.. Why do you think he doesn’t respond to criticism? Because he doesn’t need to correct your opinion nor does feel the need to fire back.

Drake is making his way to the top. I would say he’s at the pinnacle of his career but once you reach the top than your only coming down from there and I don’t see that ever happening.

Shout out to Drake, 40, Future, Boi 1da, Chubbs, Ryan, OB and the rest of the crew. Can’t wait to hear the album and get tickets to my first concert since coming back from the military. Drake you a truly an inspiration to all and but most of all, to me.

I wish this posted as me and not a guest haha

  • #5 you have to be kidding me he won
Best Hip Hop Video “HYFR” Best Rap Album Off The Year
Atleast in my opinion Drake would be #3 hottest mc
because he didnt realease an abulm or a mixtape.

I dont think this is right at all. Drake being number 5? Drake took a short vacation from rapping and still killed all the songs he was either singing hooks on or being featured in. After I heard Poetic Justice with Kendrick & his little 30 second verse on Fo Real with Future, I knew Drake was gonnah come back and slaughter everything. Number 5 is a complete understatment. Point blank. If not number 1, then number 2. But not 5.

  • I think feel like that one dude didn’t have to bring up what happened in NYC. He had features out before, and then he was on some right after, so I feel like him bring that was really stupid, but #5 isn’t bad for him not having anything but features. Keep up the good work drake. <3

I definitely do not agree with Drizzy’s placement. Sure he didn’t release solo material, but he was still everywhere. Drake had a song with half of the whole list. A hit song. Meek was at #10. He had a pretty good year, but what was probably his biggest hit? Amen. With who? None other than Drizzy Drake Rogers himself. A$AP was #8, he also had a amazing year, even a #1 album, but his biggest hit? Problems, featuring Drizzy. All the way at #2 was 2chainz, another very big year, yet beside Birthday Song, what did you hear on the radio nonstop? That’s right, no lie with Drake. Not only that, but Kendrick was #1, and don’t get me wrong he deserves at least top three, but there is a problem. I don’t know about everyone else, but I hadn’t even heard Kendrick until Buried Alive Interlude on Take Care. Also, four out the ten rappers on the list: Meek, A$AP, 2chainz, and Kendrick, went on tour as opening acts to Drake. And I’m not trying to disrespect the other rappers, because I listen to almost all of them, but I truly believe Drizzy is a huge part of the reason people actually noticed what talent they had. Also, as I kinda said before I lot of the hits some of the others on the list had, were Drizzy assisted! Ross had Stay Schemin, and Diced Pineapples, which I personally only listen too for Drake’s parts. Let’s face it… Drizzy outshines almost everyone when he is featured on something. And NOBODY can touch his new singles. Started from the bottom is everywhere, got everyone saying they started from the bottom, and went gold in a month. Then, and I know it came out after the list, 5am in Toronto murdered every rapper, and civilians alike. You can see quotes from both songs everywhere, a matter of fact, look on some celebrities twitter accounts and I’m sure you will see a few. And this is all without mentioning the awards he has won this year, the great visuals he put out, the label he signed, and tons of other features he assisted in. They may not have out him in his rightful place, meaning the top 3, but he is sure to show EVERYONE that this year it is 2OVO13, and that people better be running cuz it’s Drizzy Season and Champagne Papi is taking no prisoners.
