Though he says he will never stop, Drake is often under fire by critics for “singing too much”. In this interview with VLAD TV, singer/songwriter The Dream has some words for Drake and the critics.
The Dream is a well known songwriter who has written song such as Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” and Rihanna’s “Umbrella”. Drake and The Dream are no strangers to each other as they collaborated on Drake’s debut album ‘Thank Me Later’ with the track “Shut It Down”.
In this interview, The Dream says he likes Drake’s singing and encourages him to continue. “People talk you out of anything when they see you doing something that they can’t do. Yeah, it’s a trick. You can’t fall for it. Can’t fall for it. I would sing my ass off. I’d do a whole singing album. Drop it on Valentine’s Day. Show up, chest out with some roses. ‘What?’”, says The Dream to Drake.
He also goes on to praise his songwriting skills saying, “I just like him as a songwriter. I think what I like about him, probably no one really thinks about. He’s just a great songwriter. No, he’s just a great songwriter, period. It ain’t about songwriting outside of himself. Even for his self he’s just a great songwriter. And that’s what I like about him. You know?”
The Dream isn’t the first artist to defend Drake’s singing as last month Nelly did as well in an interview with VLAD TV. Well said by both artists. Watch the interview with the Dream below.
